Our littles are not-so-little these days. The twins are off for an overnighter at Youth Conference and are staying in college dorms tonight with their Church friends. FUN! Anna is off to Oregon with my sister and her family to hang with their second cousins on the farm- a summer highlight for her for SURE.
All the extra work I've been doing for the Parade of Homes house is done (and it won every design award in our category- woot to the design team! So proud to have been part of that). You can read about all the fun that's taken the place of blogging on my family blog HERE. I'm totally spent and sick of extra projects, at least for now, and I really just wanted some down time tonight with my NFL-sized Princess.
We decided to go on a dinner date then come back and watch a movie at home. Maybe snuggle and have a complete conversation that wasn't interrupted by "Can I come in and use YOUR shower?" or "Mom! Logan is hogging the computer!" or "I'm hungry!" or "I can't find my pajamas!" You get the idea because you're probably living it too.
All week I joked that we were going to have a REAL getaway weekend- where the kids get away and we just get to hang out and relax together at home. Yeah. What were we thinking? I've given up.
We did get out to dinner but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. I don't recommend the Brick Oven in South Jordan- and if you go DO NOT get the buffet. Just don't. Since we got back, we have received multiple phone calls from kids for various reasons. We've had calls and stop ins from their friends too. We had to drive over to find and care for my sister's dog at 10 pm. And several other distractions.
So much for a quiet evening for just the two of us! Maybe tomorrow... Nah! I guess there will be plenty of quiet evenings for us SOMEDAY. Until then, this is our life. Greg thinks our life is crazier than the average but I don't. I've read your blogs. I know this would probably happen to most of you if you got 24 hours to be home alone too!

It's times like those that make you realize just how "full" your life truly is. Although hectic, it makes it "rich" in love, service, opportunities, and growth! Stretch like Gumby! :)
Oh, yes, I remember the hectic times when kids controlled our lives, even when they weren't around directly. They'll grow up soon enough, though, and then you'll miss the crazy days. Hope you found a little "alone" time before more chaos ensued.
